Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua injected some humor into his remarks on Sunday, as he appealed to Kenyans to extend a bit of grace to him during their prayers.

Addressing attendees at the consecration of ACK Nakuru Diocese Bishop Anthony Mambo in Nakuru, DP Gachagua reiterated his commitment to honesty and speaking the truth to the Kenyan electorate. He humorously emphasized his reputation as an “honest man” and assured that he would continue to uphold this principle.

Furthermore, he called on Kenyans to throw their support behind President William Ruto’s efforts to revitalize the struggling economy through his economic transformation agenda.

“Pray for our president to get wisdom and courage to lead our country, especially on the economic transformation in this country. Continue praying for our country,” he said.

“Also remember me because you know I am a truthful and honest man. Pray for me that I continue being truthful and honest.”

This comes amid political ridicule meted at Gachagua as he has accused leaders affiliated with President Ruto of creating cold blood between him and the president.

During a public rally in Kirinyaga County on Saturday, a seemingly irate Gachagua slammed the said president’s allies over what he termed as condescension, reiterating that only the president and the people of Kenya could tell him what to do.

“Even some of his friends, his PAs want to order me around on how to do my work. Is it possible? Even bloggers of the president want to tell me what to do… you know me, I have only two bosses, President Ruto and the people of Kenya,” Ruto said.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has pointed fingers at his allies, attributing the perceived discord between him and the president to their actions. He claimed that these allies have formed a WhatsApp group called ‘Project 22’, where they allegedly incite other leaders against him.

Gachagua expressed incredulity at the notion that individuals who are friends with the president also aspire to surpass him in authority. He questioned the feasibility of such a scenario.

Despite the speculated rift within the Kenya Kwanza government, Gachagua has remained steadfast in his advocacy for unity among the Mount Kenya region. He dismissed accusations of tribal politics, emphasizing that unity would ensure the region receives a fair share of national resources.

In defense of his stance, Gachagua highlighted the election of Deputy President William Ruto, emphasizing that the region’s support for Ruto transcends tribal affiliations, showcasing their patriotism.
