The residents of Kirinyaga County have expressed concern over the increasing number of road accidents, particularly along the Mwea-Embu highway.

They attribute the rise in accidents to reckless driving and the poor condition of the roads.

According to Dominic Kinyua, a local resident, the recent death of one person in an accident underscores the severity of the problem. He emphasizes that road accidents have become a common occurrence in the area.

The residents are calling on the authorities to address the issues contributing to the accidents, particularly the poor road conditions.

They highlight the presence of numerous potholes along the Mwea-Embu highway, which pose a significant risk to motorists and pedestrians alike.

Local leaders, including Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji, have also voiced their concerns about the state of the highway. Mukunji notes that the poor road conditions have not only resulted in increased travel time but also put the lives of commuters at risk.

Overall, there is a strong call for immediate action to improve road safety and infrastructure in Kirinyaga County to prevent further loss of life due to road accidents.
