Bongo flava star Diamond Platnumz has responded to his rival Ali Kiba’s latest move to poach his Wasafi Media staff.

In March, Ali Kiba launched his Crown Media radio and television station, in what both his fans and those of his nemesis Diamond have described as a new affront that has now transcended their long-standing musical rivalry.

Since the launch of Crown Media, Ali Kiba has been busy building structures and personnel, with his latest move to poach talents from major rivals such as Wasafi Media, EFM and Clouds FM, leaving tongues wagging.

On the issue of losing his staff, Diamond says he has no problem with it as it only means growth for those individuals.

“When you see someone leaving one job for another, it means greener pastures, you must have been offered a better deal. And I don’t see anything wrong with that, it’s really a good thing. Any human being in their right mind will leave if they get a better offer from somewhere else,” Diamond said.

The singer insists he is not losing sleep over his employees jumping ship, explaining that he loves to see people grow.

“I honestly don’t have a problem with an employee leaving Wasafi Media for Crown Media because we are all striving to improve our lives,” he affirms.

Radio remains a lucrative business in Tanzania, with a number of celebrities expressing interest in joining the bandwagon, and others like Alikiba already on board.

In December 2022, Diamond’s long time manager Sallam Sharaff aka SK Salam also joined the business by launching his radio station Mjini FM.

The launch of Mjini FM, where SK Salam is the managing director, also sparked rumours of a rift between the shrewd businessman and Diamond.

Tanzanian blogs claimed that Diamond was not at all happy with SK Salaam’s move to launch a competing station, with these reports claiming that this was the reason why the two hadn’t been seen hanging out together for some time, as was their norm in the past.

Salaam would come out to clear the air, stating that just because they weren’t seen together in public didn’t mean they weren’t communicating.
