A man died after being struck by lightning in Mumias East, Kakamega County.

The middle-aged man was at his home in the Eshilarumwa area when the tragedy occurred around 7:30 pm. According to reports, Rashid Ondewa was standing next to his kitchen when he was struck.

Despite efforts to rush him to a hospital in Shianda, he was pronounced dead on arrival. Tahiri Omumasaba, a family member, expressed the family’s grief, stating, “He has left a huge gap in our family. Rashid was an instrumental person in the family.” T

raders at Shianda market, where Rashid worked, remembered him as a diligent businessman.
