A 65-year-old grandmother from Masamba village, South Ramba sub-location, spent a night in Ndori police cells in Rarieda sub-county after being arrested for possession of chang’aa and bhang.

Mary Atieno Obiero was apprehended with 28 litres of chang’aa and 83 rolls of bhang during a security agency crackdown on illicit brews and drugs in the area. Siaya County Police Commander Mr. Cleti Kimaiyo confirmed the incident.

Acting on a tip-off, officers searched her residence and discovered the prohibited substances, leading to her arrest. She remains in custody pending arraignment at Madiany Law Courts.
