Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has launched the development of Kihumbuini Stadium, a project valued at Ksh. 277 million.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, Governor Sakaja emphasized that the stadium will be built to meet international standards, with the goal of enhancing soccer in Nairobi.

Governor Sakaja highlighted that once completed, the stadium will not only generate revenue for the county but also stimulate local businesses in its vicinity.

He underscored the financial benefits of sports infrastructure, noting that Nairobi County currently earns over Ksh. 1 million monthly from Dandora Stadium, which hosts Kenyan soccer league matches.

Accompanied by the project’s contractor, Governor Sakaja assured residents of his commitment to ensuring the stadium’s timely completion.

He also outlined plans for additional stadium projects across the county, mentioning ongoing construction at some locations and scheduled developments in the upcoming financial year. These include Umoja Tena Complex, Jericho, Ziwani, Woodley, Highrise, Kawangware BP, and Joe Kadenge Stadiums, among others.
