Comedian Eric Omondi was arrested during a protest outside Parliament Buildings. A video from the Star showed Omondi and a small group of people dressed in red protesting. Omondi, alongside others, was on horseback leading the protest when police officers approached them.
They were chanting “Power to the people.” The officers then apprehended Omondi, pulling him off the horse.
Earlier on Thursday, Omondi had criticized legislators who supported the controversial Finance Bill, 2024, in a social media post. He accused the MPs of acting against the wishes of Kenyan citizens.
“When the representatives of the People are unable to represent the people, the people shall represent themselves!
“It will not be a walk in the Park. If we lose they, must Lose,” he said.
On June 4, the comedian was previously arrested outside Parliament buildings. Omondi had led Mama Mbogas in a demonstration protesting the Finance Bill, 2024 along Parliament Road when police officers intervened and dispersed them.
He was subsequently booked at Parliament police station. Recently, Omondi, known for his comedic talents, has been increasingly involved in activism.
