In the latest FIFA world ranking released on Thursday, Kenya’s national football team, Harambee Stars, slipped one place to 108th despite recent performances.

They played to a goalless draw against African champions Ivory Coast in a FIFA World Cup qualifier held in Lilongwe, Malawi. Additionally, Harambee Stars drew 1-1 against Burundi in another match during the same event.

Morocco, semifinalists in the 2022 World Cup, emerged as the highest-ranked African team at 12th place, climbing one spot. Former African champions Senegal dropped to 18th place, while Ivory Coast rose two places to 37th globally and third in Africa.

At the top of the ranking, Argentina, France, and Belgium maintained their positions as the top three teams. Brazil and England followed closely in fourth and fifth places, respectively.

FIFA determines its rankings using the Elo Model, which adjusts a team’s points based on various factors including match outcome, expected result, match importance, and relative team strength.
