The Holy Family Basilica, along with the Catholic Church at large, is urging Kenyans to voice their concerns regarding the Finance Bill 2024.

In a statement issued from the Basilica, the church criticized the bill as oppressive and supported calls for its rejection. During Sunday’s sermon, leaders of the anti-Finance Bill demonstrations, led by Gen Z and millennials, encouraged Kenyans to participate in the nationwide protest.

They announced peaceful demonstrations from Nairobi’s General Post Office (GPO) to the Kenya National Archives starting at 3 p.m. A protester interrupted the service by walking to the front, chanting “Reject the Finance Bill” while carrying a Kenyan flag. The church has described the bill as oppressive and is calling on Kenyans to stand in solidarity against it.
