Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists, and Dentist Union Secretary General Davji Atellah has issued a strike notice demanding the immediate release of Dr. Austin Omondi, also known as Japrado.

Using his X account on Sunday, Atellah condemned the alleged abduction and demanded Dr. Omondi’s safe return by midnight, warning that failure to do so would result in the closure of all public and private medical services to locate their colleague.

Atellah detailed that Dr. Omondi had reported receiving death threats from unknown individuals due to his involvement with the ‘Medics for Kenya’ activities, where young medics provide free medical aid and lead blood donation drives to help injured protesters.

He emphasized that the era of political repression, reminiscent of the Nyayo days, is over and cautioned those attempting such actions that they will be “forcefully dragged back into the straight and narrow path of political accountability.”

Dr. Omondi was reportedly arrested around 1:20 pm on Sunday while conducting a blood donation drive at Sikh Union, Ngara, Nairobi.
