The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has declared a temporary closure of the Mombasa-bound lanes on Mombasa Road between Salama and Sultan Hamud. This closure will commence from midnight on Sunday, June 23, 2024, and will continue until 6 am on Monday, July 1, 2024.

The affected stretch is located approximately 11 kilometers from Salama towards Mombasa and 10 kilometers from Sultan Hamud towards Nairobi. The closure is necessary to facilitate maintenance works on this section of the highway.

KeNHA has stated that during this period, one lane will be closed for maintenance while the other lane will remain open for traffic flow.

“Throughout the closure period, Nairobi bound traffic will use the diversion while Mombasa bound traffic will use the operational lane on the carriageway,” the Authority said.

Kenha urged all motorists intending to use Mombasa Road (A8) Mombasa bound lanes on this section are further advised to approach the affected section with caution.

“Follow the traffic signs and guidance in place as shall be directed by Police and Traffic Marshalls on site,” Kenha said.
