Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has denied contributing Sh20 million to a church fundraiser. In a video posted on his X page, Sudi clarified that Sh20 million was the total amount raised during the Harambee, not the amount he donated.

“As a matter of fact, the amount in question was the entire cash raised in the said Harambee. The church contributed Sh14 million on its own. Then we added the extra amount,” he said.

The MP stated that he had been donating to churches long before he became a politician, adding that the source of his money should not be questioned. He was responding to a video circulating on social media, alleging that he donated Sh20 million.

The MP also announced that he is taking a sabbatical leave from public engagements because his participation in activities such as harambees has been used against him.

“Going forward, I’ll not participate in any Harambee because it has been used to malign and disparage the good course, let it be banned,” he said.
“Thus the current happenings in the country call for introspection and consequently, I’m taking a sabbatical leave from public engagements.”
Sudi said he will be on sabbatical leave for a year or two, after which he will make a decision on whether to quit politics or not.
