The 102nd NCBA Kenya Amateur Match Play Championship begins today at the prestigious Windsor Golf and Country Club and will run through Sunday. Organized by the Kenya Golf Union (KGU), this event features 78 players hailing from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, the United Kingdom (UK), India, and South Africa.
Defending champion Michael Karanga faces tough competition from top amateur golfers in what promises to be a challenging tournament. The championship commences with 36 holes of stroke play on the first day, determining participants for the subsequent match play rounds. Notably, this year’s event is exclusively for male participants.
Chris Kinuthia, Tournament Director of KGU, expressed appreciation for NCBA’s sponsorship and recognized the hospitality extended by Windsor Golf and Country Club.
He observed: “We are immensely grateful to NCBA for their steadfast support in providing a platform where our elite amateurs can thrive and potentially earn a livelihood.”
The winner will secure an automatic slot in the 2025 Magical Kenya Open (MKO), enhancing the stakes of this already highly anticipated event.
