Gor Mahia has yet to secure a victory in the CECAFA Kagame Cup after two rounds of matches at the Azam Complex, Chamazi. The Kenyan champions were held to a 1-1 draw by ASAS Djibouti Telecom, with both teams earning their first points of the tournament.

Gor Mahia took the lead through Levin Joseph Odhiambo in the 39th minute, but Djibouti’s Warsama Houssein Said equalized just two minutes later. With this result, Gor Mahia sits third in Pool B with one point, while Telecom is fourth, separated by goal difference.

Leading Pool B is Al Hilal with six points, having won both of their matches. Red Arrows, who defeated Gor Mahia in the tournament opener, are second in the pool with three points.

Gor Mahia’s chances of advancing to the knockout stage hinge on a victory in their final match against Al Hilal. Meanwhile, Sudan Premier League giants Al Hilal have shown strong form in the Dar Port Kagame Cup 2024.

Coach Florent Ibenge’s team started their Group B campaign with a 2-0 victory over ASAS Djibouti Telecom and followed it up with a commanding 5-0 win against Red Arrows FC (Zambia) on Saturday at the Azam Complex, Chamazi.

In Pool C, APR leads with six points, SC Villa follows with four points, Al-Merreikh has one point, and Singida is yet to score.

Action continues on Monday as Uganda Premier League champions SC Villa meet APR FC (Rwanda) at the KMC Stadium. Meanwhile, Singida Black Stars FC (Tanzania) will face El Merriekh Bentiu at the Azam Complex, Chamazi in another Group C match.

In Group A, JKU SC (Zanzibar) will play against Dekadaha FC (Somalia), while Coastal Union FC takes on Sudan’s Hay Al Wadi FC.
