Kenya National Federation of sugarcane farmers Migori branch secretary, Argwengs Adongo, has urged sugar millers sourcing cane from Migori county to establish improved payment schedules for farmers.

He warned that unless millers implement a system where farmers are paid within one to two weeks after delivering cane, they will not receive further supplies.

Adongo commended the national government for settling all outstanding farmer debts and emphasized the need for prompt payment to prevent new arrears from accumulating. He expressed readiness to collaborate with Sony Sugar Company, provided they harvest cane and meet payment deadlines.

Adongo also encouraged farmers to increase cane production to ensure Sony Sugar Company has a sufficient supply.
