The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) has revealed photos of its vividly branded “village” in Paris, where Kenya’s athletes will stay during the Games.
Situated by the Seine River, the building is part of a 54-acre Paris Olympic village, which includes flats for over 10,000 athletes from 206 national Olympic committees and refugee Olympic teams. On Thursday, workers were seen making final adjustments to the village building, ensuring every detail reflects the spirit of the Games.
“Team Kenya. Karibu Nyumbani,” some of the branding elements reads.
Kenya is occupying the same building as the team from Ireland.
“Excited to meet our flatmate team Ireland,” NOC-K posted.
The team is currently in Miramas, a commune in southern France.
“As our teams prepare to start leaving Miramas this weekend and fly to Paris, we are preparing Team Kenya Olympic Village.”
The Olympic Village includes a 3,200-seat dining hall, a 24-hour gym, a 3,500-square-meter polyclinic, and a small supermarket. Some participants will stay at satellite villages in Chateauroux (shooting), Lille (basketball preliminaries and handball), Marseille (sailing), and Tahiti (surfing).
The prestigious event will officially begin on July 26 and conclude on August 11. The Paralympic Games will follow, running from August 28 to September 8.
