Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu has dismissed the country’s Foreign Affairs Minister January Makamba and ICT Minister Nape Moses.
In the changes announced on Sunday evening, Ambassador Mahmoud Kombo will replace Makamba as the Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation Minister. Kombo, previously the Tanzanian ambassador to Italy, has also been nominated to serve as a Member of Parliament.
William Silaha will become the new Information Communication and Technology Minister, transitioning from his previous role as the Minister of Lands, Housing, and Human Settlements. John Ndejembi will now lead the Lands Ministry, having previously served as the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office in charge of Labour, Youth, Employment, and Persons with Disabilities.
In further changes, President Suluhu has appointed Cosato Chumi as the new Deputy Foreign Minister, replacing Nassor Mabrouk, who will be reassigned to other duties.
Ridhiwani Kikwete has been appointed Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, moving from his previous position as Deputy Minister of State in the President’s Office in charge of Public Service Management and Good Governance. Clement Sangu will be the Deputy Minister of State in the President’s Office under the Public Service Management and Good Governance portfolio.
The Tanzanian president has also made changes to other positions, including permanent secretaries, with reassignments and new appointments, particularly among district commissioners.
