Learning was disrupted on Monday morning at Mburi Primary School in Kirinyaga County after the lifeless body of a security guard was discovered on the premises.

According to Gichugu police commander Johnson Wachira, the night guard was found dead at the school. Early-arriving students raised the alarm, prompting local residents from Njukiini to inform the area chief, as reported by Mary Mwaniki to Citizen Digital.

The police have launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the guard’s death and to identify those responsible. “The county headquarters team is investigating to find out who is behind the killing,” Wachira stated.

Initial reports suggest that the guard, who was 74 years old, may have been killed on Saturday night, with his body later discarded in one of the classrooms. The assailants also stole some bananas from the school.

The deceased’s body has been taken to Kerugoya Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
