For ‘African Giant’s’ fifth anniversary, Burna Boy will host a live YouTube show.

Nigerian star Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, known as Burna Boy, is set to perform live on YouTube on July 26th to mark the 5th anniversary of his album African Giant in a special YouTube Night event. The event will feature a diverse lineup of artists, promising an eclectic evening for viewers.

The Grammy-winning artist, who boasts 5 million subscribers, will deliver a performance of songs from his critically acclaimed album.

Burna Boy shared his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “Celebrating the 5th anniversary of African Giant with a special performance in London, supported by YouTube Music, has been an incredible experience. This album is close to my heart as it marks a pivotal moment in my career and a proud statement of African culture.”

He added, “Performing these songs for my fans, who have been with me every step of the way, highlights our shared journey and the cultural impact we’ve achieved together. I’m grateful to YouTube Music for helping create this memorable event and to all my fans for their steadfast support. Here’s to many more years of making music that resonates and inspires.”

Addy Awofisayo, Head of Music at YouTube Africa, expressed excitement about the event, saying, “We are thrilled to feature Burna Boy on YouTube Music Nights, celebrating the 5th anniversary of his groundbreaking album, African Giant.”

Released in 2019, African Giant blends Afrobeat, dancehall, pop, and hip-hop and includes collaborations with international artists such as Jorja Smith, Jeremih, Future, Damian Marley, and YG. The album’s hit singles include “On the Low,” “Dangote,” “Wetin Man Go Do,” and “Gum Body.

” The album earned Burna Boy a Grammy nomination for Best World Music Album and marked a significant international breakthrough for him. He continued his success with subsequent albums Twice as Tall in 2020, Love Damini in 2022, and I Told Them in 2023.
