NTV has successfully acquired the services of Michelle Ngele as its newest news anchor.

The former K24 news anchor who quietly left KTN News for a new show on the Mediamax-owned station in 2021, reported to work at NTV Studios on Monday this week. Ngele has been doing production work behind the scenes as she prepares to go live on air next Monday.

Ngele began her TV career in 2015 after emerging as the winner of the KTN News competition show, The Presenter, alongside Jamal Gaddafi. The two were retained by the station where they worked for a couple of years before each left to pursue other interests.

“I enjoyed my time at KTN News. They made me who I am today and I am forever grateful. It’s a wonderful place to grow,” Ngele reflected on her career journey.

Her tenure at K24 TV was also marked by a quiet departure, setting the stage for her new role at NTV where she will now fill the void left by Olive Burrows. Burrows left NTV in May to join Citizen TV, replacing Victoria Rubadiri, who moved to CNN.

In her farewell bulletin Burrows expressed her deep appreciation for her time at NTV.

“This is not goodbye, it is see you later. You guys have been working to see me cry today, I will wait for it to start raining (laughs) then I’ll blame it on the sound,” Burrows said after watching colleagues give their goodbye messages.

Burrows, who worked at NTV for six years, highlighted the station’s role in her career and personal life.

“I love you guys. It has been an absolute privilege working here at the Nation Media Group for the last six years. They took a chance on me, and it has paid off, not just careerwise but also the friendships, and we remain comrades in arms because this craft we are in together for the greater good of Kenyans,” she said.
