A group of youth has asked Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development CS nominee Wycliffe Oparanya to make Gen Zs his main point of focus.
Speaking during a youth summit in Nairobi, the group noted that out of over 50 million Kenyans, 18 million are Gen Zs and 12 million are millennials.

“All of us can’t be absorbed into white colour job market by the government but we can join the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises space,” said Joseph Msanii, the CEO and President of Hutsummit Solutions, an MSME consultant firm.

Msanii said Gen Zs and millennials are grateful to President William Ruto for nominating the former Kakamega governor as the CS Cooperatives & MSME.

“President had a good plan, the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda that will transform this economy but lacked competent people for the job,” they said.
They urged Oparanya to incorporate youths in steering the country’s economy when he begins work.

“It takes Sh1 million to create one white colour job but it only requires Sh200,000 to create a job in a blue economy as per the Bottom Up Economic Model. So Mr Oparanya, with his vast experience in the government as CS Planning, National Development & Vision 2030, has what it takes to deliver the MSME agenda,” added Msanii.

The meeting was further told the Hustler Fund is a silver bullet that will transform the economy.

“We urge the CS nominee upon being sworn in to restructure the initiative by inviting stakeholders, we Gen Zs and millennials on the table for public participation on how we can make it work,” Msanii said.

“It’s no longer few individuals sitting in boardrooms and making decisions for us. We must be part of the decision-making table because it affects us.”
Speaking during the Luhya community development conference at the weekend, Oparanya declared that he was ready to serve in the government of national unity.

“The most important thing is that I am ready to serve in this government of national unity. I will be open, offer suggestions and propose what is best for the country because we want to move forward for the good of our nation,” he added.

The former governor said since he participated in the development of the Vision 2030 plan, he is aware of what is expected of him by the Head of State.
