Yusuf Hassan Abdi, the Member of Parliament for Kamukunji, has expressed that the cabinet nominees will face significant challenges in proving their worth to the Kenyan people. During an appearance on Citizen TV’s Daybreak, the MP remarked that the functioning of the cabinet is currently in crisis and requires urgent attention.

“The crisis of trust, the crisis of credibility, and also to reverse the lack of confidence in the cabinet and executive in how they run and do things,” said Hassan.

Hassan argued that Ruto expressed a lack of confidence in Cabinet when he dismissed his first appointees in June 2023.

“So they have a high heel to climb to prove themselves that it is in fact not business as usual. They have to come with a new vision new ideas, new ways of doing things,” stated the MP.
“ I think the other thing that they will be coming to is the fact that we have not had a cabinet for a while. Ministries have been run by Principal Secretaries again this is something that has not happened in Kenya for many years.”

The MP noted that the new Cabinet Secretaries have a substantial amount of work ahead of them. He emphasized the need for them to hit the ground running and demonstrate to the people of Kenya that things can be done correctly.
