A police officer from Makongeni Police Station in Nairobi was rescued from an enraged mob after he hit a pedestrian on Lusaka Road on Friday evening. According to a police report obtained , the incident occurred at 6:45 pm when the officer, driving an Isuzu NQR Canter, was heading towards City Stadium.
As the officer reached Lusaka Road, he struck a male pedestrian, who died instantly. The situation quickly escalated as angry boda boda riders and members of the public confronted the officer, seeking to harm him. The mob stoned his vehicle and set it ablaze, damaging the front cabin seat and the left passenger door.
A nearby police patrol team responded promptly, arriving at the scene to rescue the injured officer. He sustained injuries to his right elbow and multiple injuries on his back and was taken to Huruma Nursing Home for treatment. The patrol team, along with traffic officers, was able to restore order in the area and document the scene.
