Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o has reshuffled his chief officers in a bid to enhance service delivery. The changes, which took effect on Monday, impact several key departments, with some officers being reassigned to new roles, while others retain their positions or receive promotions.

A document reviewed by the Star and signed by Acting County Secretary Hesbon Hongo indicates that the governor made these changes in accordance with Section 45(5) of the County Governments Act 2012, effective immediately.

Notable adjustments include the transfer of Paul Waweru from his role as Chief Officer of Finance to Acting Chief Officer of the Kisumu Lake Front Development Corporation. Bovince Ochieng, the Chief Officer for Trade, Cooperatives, and Tourism, has been reassigned to Education, Technical Training, Innovation, and Social Services.

Meanwhile, Erick Omondi, previously overseeing Agriculture and Livestock, has moved to the Water, Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change department.

Francis Asuna, who was in charge of Water, Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change, will now lead the Sports, Culture, Gender, and Youths Department. Daniel Otieno, formerly responsible for Energy, Transport, Roads, and Public Works, has transitioned to oversee Agriculture, Irrigation, Livestock Development, Fisheries, and the Blue Economy.

Timothy Nyakwamb Kajwang has shifted from Sports, Culture, and Youth Affairs to the Trade, Cooperatives, Tourism Industry, and Marketing department, while Fredrick Mula has moved from Education to Energy, Transport, Roads, and Public Works.

Officers retaining their current positions include Ojwang Lusi in Health, Victor Ndereva in Lands, and Wilson Abiero in Economic Planning. John Oywa will continue as the head of Communication and Public Affairs while also acting as Chief Officer of Public Service, County Administration, and Participatory Development.

Benter Omollo has transitioned from the Public Service department to the Finance docket as the Acting Chief Officer.

“The reshuffling takes effect immediately with handing over to the newly appointed and retained officers expected to be concluded by close of Business on August 14 2024,” read the statement.
