A suspected thief is in critical condition at Kericho County Referral Hospital after being subjected to mob justice in Ketipyese village, Ainamoi location, Ainamoi Sub County.

According to police reports, the incident occurred when the man was caught stealing maize from a local farmer’s field. Witnesses stated that the man attempted the theft during a heavy downpour, hoping to go unnoticed.

Residents explained that the farmer had recently hired guards after noticing a significant decrease in his maize yield. The suspect was apprehended after being shot with an arrow while surveying the maize plantation.

The guards then raised the alarm, drawing the attention of nearby villagers who quickly gathered at the scene. Officers from Ainamoi police station later arrived and transported the suspect to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
