Police in Vijiweni, Likoni, Mombasa County are investigating a suspected suicide involving a 16-year-old girl who was found hanging from a door frame with a bed sheet around her neck. According to police, her brother discovered her at the scene, removed the bed sheet, and rushed her to St. Thomas Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

At the scene, police found a suicide note revealing her distress and feelings of abandonment. The note read in part, “I told you what I was going through but you didn’t listen, I was tortured by those spirits and you didn’t help me and you still sent me back there to that school. I will no longer endure that pain, so this is goodbye.”

The body has been taken to Coast General Hospital for an autopsy.

Police officers from Nambale police station responded to the scene and discovered the man with visible injuries on his legs, ribs, and forehead. He was taken to Nambale Sub-County Hospital for treatment, and the case is under investigation.
