Police are holding a robbery with violence suspect linked to a gang that has been terrorizing residents in Kericho.

Mogotio police commander Felicien Nafula confirmed that a firearm was recovered from the suspect, identified as Viliano Ruto.

“A vehicle used by the suspects, registration number KDL 714P, has been towed to the police station,” the police reported.

The suspects were fleeing from Kituro along the Mogotio-Molo River-Eldama Ravine road but abandoned the vehicle after a tyre burst.

“One suspect, who attempted to flee on foot, was arrested, and his pistol, serial number 710788, was recovered. It was loaded with two rounds of ammunition,” officers added.

The suspect will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete, while the search for his accomplices continues.
