Over 100 golfers from Machakos and other clubs are set to compete in the 17th leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour at the Machakos Golf Club this Saturday. The tournament will kick off at 6:30 am, with players hitting the greens for a highly competitive outing.

The top two teams from this leg will secure their spots in the grand finale scheduled for December 6, 2024.

“This is the second consecutive year we are visiting Machakos Golf Club, reflecting our commitment to developing the game in this talent-rich region,” said KCB Group Director of Marketing and Communications, Rosalind Gichuru. “Our involvement in golf aims not only to provide opportunities for players but also to expand the sport so that everyone can enjoy and be part of our series. We are excited to host over 100 top players in what promises to be an amazing event.”

Recent qualifiers for the grand finale include Jeff Muthoki, Winston Kirimi, Kevin Kabugi, Ian Kirimi, Gabriel Miungi, Captain Anthony Rukwaro, James Warui, and Rama Maulid, who secured their spots with impressive performances at the Nanyuki leg of the series.

Machakos Golf Club Captain Stephen Musyoka remarked, “The course is in excellent shape, and our wide fairways will provide a great experience for the players. We are grateful to KCB for their continued support, which demonstrates their confidence in our ability to host a successful tournament. We look forward to Saturday and are eager to see the winners.”

KCB has also incorporated sustainability into the tour. Since last year, tree planting exercises have been carried out at various courses, highlighting the bank’s efforts to address climate change. Additionally, the club that produces the overall winners will receive a Ksh. 1 million cash prize for a sustainability initiative they are undertaking.

To further enhance the competition, KCB has partnered with Beulah City Ltd, a property firm, to offer a Ksh. 2.1 million apartment as the hole-in-one prize for every leg of the 2024 tour.
