Nominated MCA Ezra Kabuga Kihara of Kiambu County Assembly tragically died in a road accident on Sunday morning. According to Juja Sub-County Police Commander Michael Mwaura, the accident occurred around 6 a.m. near Mang’u High School on Thika Road. The 34-year-old politician was driving a Subaru Forester when he collided with the rear of a lorry. The impact was so severe that Kabuga died on the spot, and the vehicle caught fire.

His body has been taken to Montzuna Monalissa Funeral Home in Kabati, Murang’a County. A father of three and an accountant, Kabuga was nominated by the UDA party to represent youth in the assembly.

Upon hearing the news, members of the Kiambu County Assembly rushed to the funeral home. Kiamwangi MCA Kung’u Smart remembered Kabuga as a dedicated member with a promising future in politics, expressing his sorrow over the loss of a friend. Ngoliba MCA Joachim Njama also paid tribute, highlighting Kabuga’s expertise in budget matters and noting his significant role in transitioning the county from manual revenue collection to an electronic system.

Members of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Ngoingwa, Thika, where Ezra Kabuga was a youth leader, also mourned his passing. President William Ruto praised Kabuga’s leadership abilities, stating, “His skills in party politics were exemplary, and he played a crucial role as the Kiambu returning officer during the party primaries in 2022,” on his X account.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua expressed his sadness over the news, recalling their productive meeting the day before the accident. “Just yesterday, we were discussing ways to tackle illicit brew in Kiambu County,” he said at Thika PEFA Cathedral, where he had attended a church service.

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi took to social media to share his grief, describing Kabuga as a vibrant and promising young leader whose commitment to serving the people of Kiambu was evident in every aspect of his work. “It is heartbreaking to lose such a young, dedicated legislator with so much promise for the future,” he remarked.
