Residents of Migori County are expressing concern over poor waste management practices that they believe could lead to disease outbreaks. They have criticized the county government’s waste management department for improperly disposing of garbage, often in residential areas, which they claim endangers public health.

Anne Adera, a local resident, stated, “We are living in fear of contracting diseases, including cholera, and urge the county to take swift action to deal with the matter.” She emphasized the particular worry for mothers, noting, “Children are picking all sorts of infections due to the poor waste disposal.”

The community is calling on the Migori County Government to take immediate action by designating specific waste disposal sites to improve cleanliness and public health. Samuel Doo, another concerned resident, indicated that if the issue is not addressed, locals plan to stage protests to demand action and the removal of garbage from their neighborhoods.
