While addressing locals during a tree-planting event at the Maragoli forest, Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo stated that his efforts to reforest the Maragoli Hills are already yielding positive results.

“You have all witnessed that my efforts to restore the Maragoli Hills forest are bearing fruit, and in the next ten years, the Maragoli Hills forest will have reclaimed its forest cover,” he said.

Ottichilo urged residents living near the Maragoli Hills forest to assist the officers from the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) in protecting the forest.

On the issue of climate change, Ottichilo called on residents to adopt a culture of environmental protection, especially through tree planting, to help mitigate the effects of climate change. He noted that “the negative impacts of climate change are posing a significant threat to biodiversity in the world.”
