Barcelona must play their next away Champions League match without their fans and pay a €10,000 ($11,000) fine after a racist banner was displayed by supporters during their game against Monaco on September 19, UEFA ruled on Friday.

Barcelona fans held up a “Flick Heil” sign, referencing the Nazi salute “Sieg Heil,” in relation to their German coach, Hansi Flick. In response, the club released a statement condemning any form of violence or hate, stating that they “reject any type of justification for violence” and will comply with the sanction.

Barcelona also pledged to strengthen existing measures and implement additional initiatives to prevent such incidents in the future, as well as apply sanctions to those responsible. The team’s next away game will be against Crvena Zvezda in Belgrade on November 6. They lost the Monaco match 2-1.
