Saboti Constituency MP Caleb Amisi has highlighted a major issue in Kenya’s political landscape, pointing out that the problem is not the constitution or the joint election of the President and Deputy President, but rather the tendency of some leaders to mobilize only two communities to secure power.

He criticized this practice, arguing that it leads to political fragmentation, where the rest of the country is left to either suffer the consequences of conflict or benefit from peace, depending on the political season. Amisi emphasized the need to stop this tribal balkanization, calling for a national renaissance to unify the country beyond ethnic lines.

His comments come amid growing political tensions between President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, with internal rifts leading to calls for Gachagua’s impeachment. This mirrors the strained relationship between former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ruto during their second term.
