From Thursday, October 3, to Friday, October 4, several areas in Nairobi and its surrounding regions will experience water shortages. In a statement, Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company Managing Director, Eng. Nahason M. Muguna, explained that the water disruption is necessary to reroute the DN 1000mm pipeline at the Uhuru Highway-Haile Selassie Junction. This is part of ongoing construction for the Green Park Pedestrian Underpass.

The water shutdown will commence at 6:00 AM on Thursday and is expected to last until 6:00 AM on Friday. The company has appealed to residents to use the available water sparingly during this period as efforts are made to restore supply.

The areas affected by the shutdown include the Central Business District (CBD), sections of Mombasa Road, South B & C Estates (including Mater Hospital), Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), Athi River Export Processing Zone (EPZA), Coca-Cola, Mukuru, Imara Daima, and estates and industries along North Airport Road, Embakasi Village, and Tassia Estate.

Additionally, areas such as Ngara, Wangari Maathai Road, Desai Road, Kipande Road, Limuru Road, Muranga Road, Park Road, Gigiri, Whispers Avenue, Village Market, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the U.S. Embassy, General Service Unit (GSU), Administration Police Training Schools, Nairobi Internal Container Depot, parts of Baraka Estate, industries along Masai Road, Buruburu Phases 3, 4, and 5, Gikomba, Pumwani, Majengo, Shauri Moyo, and the entire Industrial Area will also experience disruptions.
