Arsenal can finally break their 21-year Premier League title drought this season, according to winger Bukayo Saka, following the team’s 2-0 win against Ligue 1 champions Paris St Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday.

After finishing second in the 2022-23 season and taking the title race down to the wire before once again placing behind Manchester City, Arsenal are firmly in contention this season. They currently sit third in the league standings, and their dominant performance against PSG, with goals from Kai Havertz and Saka, has further solidified their title aspirations.

“I don’t want to put too much pressure on us, but I do think this is the year we can win the title,” Saka told CBS Sports. “We’ve come close in the last two years, and we’re edging nearer, but hopefully, this will be the year.”

Saka, who has become a pivotal figure at Arsenal and was the club’s top scorer in the Premier League last season, shared that their near misses in recent seasons have fueled his hunger for victory.

“I’ve finished as a runner-up many times in past seasons. That desire to win this season is burning inside me, and of course, I have a lot of self-belief,” the 23-year-old told Amazon Prime. “With those two things, it gives us strength. We believe in ourselves, we believe we’re a top team. Tonight against PSG, we showed that. I even told the lads we need to make a statement when big teams come to the Emirates.”

Arsenal’s next fixture is against Southampton, who are currently 19th in the Premier League, on Saturday.
