Detectives have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with the murder of a 70-year-old woman during a food-related altercation in a village in Kiambu. The victim, Pauline Kiragu, was discovered on her farm with severe head injuries caused by the suspect, who reportedly used a fork jembe that belonged to his grandmother.

The incident occurred in Kagongo village, Rweno, on Monday morning. According to police, the suspect had complained that Kiragu had not provided him with food as expected. He confronted her on her farm, which led to a physical altercation. During the struggle, he seized the fork jembe from her and struck her twice in the head, resulting in her immediate death.

The suspect fled the scene but was apprehended a few hours later. Kiambu police boss Michael Muchiri confirmed that the murder weapon, stained with blood, was recovered and will serve as evidence in the case. He indicated that the suspect will be presented in court, where they will seek additional time to hold him for further investigation.

The body of Kiragu has been taken to a local mortuary pending an autopsy and additional procedures.

In a separate incident, police are looking into the death of a trolley pusher named Jafred Nandwa, 46, who collapsed while pushing luggage in the Grogon area of Nairobi on Tuesday morning. His colleagues transported him to a hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body was later taken to the Central Police Station and then to a mortuary for an autopsy.

Additionally, a robbery suspect was lynched by a mob in Jericho Lumumba Estate, Nairobi, after allegedly breaking into a house. The man, believed to be around 30 years old, was killed after locals raised an alarm. Police have condemned the act of mob lynching, emphasizing the importance of surrendering suspects to authorities for proper processing and prosecution.
