Radio Africa Group is excited to announce the appointment of **Paul Ilado** as the new **Group Editorial Director**, succeeding the long-serving Director **William Pike**, who has retired after an impressive 24-year tenure with the organization.

In his new role, Ilado will oversee all editorial content across the group’s diverse platforms, including radio news, digital media, and **The Star** newspaper. He will be responsible for developing a comprehensive content strategy, ensuring the delivery of high-quality journalism, and leading fundraising initiatives to support the organization’s growth and mission.

Paul Ilado brings a wealth of experience to his new position. An accomplished business manager, journalist, and editor, he has extensive expertise in radio, TV, print, and digital media. His strong background in strategic business and media management is complemented by a proven track record in planning and developing innovative news ideas, as well as critically analyzing political trends and current affairs.

With exceptional skills in prioritizing tasks, scheduling, and leading teams, Ilado has consistently driven results in fast-paced environments. His experience in negotiating with clients and establishing partnerships has facilitated the successful execution of various programs. Additionally, his ability to work under tight deadlines ensures the delivery of high-quality results, even with limited resources and budgets.

The announcement was made by Group CEO **Martin Khafafa** during a farewell party for Pike, where he praised Ilado’s contributions to the company over the years. “Allow me to announce that Paul Ilado will be the Group Editorial Director,” Khafafa stated. “This appointment was made in consultation with Pike and the board.”

Ilado has been with Radio Africa Group for over two decades, having joined the company as a reporter. His rise from a reporter to the Group’s Editorial Director is a testament to his dedication and commitment to the success of the company. Before his recent appointment, he served as the Group Head of Content and previously held the position of Political Editor.

As William Pike bids farewell, he reflects on his time at Radio Africa with fondness. “This is a sad day for me because I have loved working with you since 2007 as we have built The Star into a well-recognized newspaper and the biggest news website in Kenya,” he expressed.
