Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has vowed that they will not allow the country to be “auctioned.”

Speaking during a press briefing at a Nairobi hotel on Sunday, Kalonzo declared, “We want to assure Kenyans that we won’t allow our country to be auctioned. We shall fight in Parliament, we shall fight in court, we shall fight on the streets. But we will never surrender our country.”

He was joined by Democratic Action Party – Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa, Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, Senators Dan Maanzo (Makueni) and Agnes Kavindu, as well as Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi, among other leaders.

“This week, 73 per cent of Kenyans in an opinion poll confirmed that the country was headed in the wrong direction. As the people’s loyal opposition and the government in waiting, we want to confirm that indeed the country is on the wrong path,” Kalonzo stated.

He further criticized the government, accusing it of facilitating state capture. “Kenya is facing an unprecedented state of capture. Two days ago, even with the overwhelming public resistance, the broad-based government went ahead to sign another Sh95 billion energy deal with KENTRACO and Adani. We reiterate our position that the impeachment drama is a scheme meant to divert the attention of Kenyans and to provide cover for these multi-billion deals to be sealed.”

Kalonzo also called on the Judiciary to continue being their “shield and defender.”

Regarding the selection panel for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Kalonzo said they would respect the court ruling set for October 14. “We realize that time is of the essence. We believe that forming an independent commission that has the trust of the people of Kenya is crucial to safeguarding our democracy,” he emphasized.

The impeachment of Mwangaza, according to Senator Ledama, is political, and there is a cabal plotting to confuse Meru.
