Oliver Mang’eni’s tenure as KCB RFC head coach kicks off this weekend with a match against Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad in the opening fixture of the 2024 Impala Floodlit Rugby Tournament. Mang’eni, who took over in August, sees the tournament as a crucial test for his squad ahead of the Kenya Cup season in November.

“The tournament is a perfect launch pad for the new season. It gives us an opportunity to weigh our strengths and weaknesses. It is also a good platform to test different skill sets,” Mang’eni said, emphasizing their intent to win.

KCB RFC, the most decorated team in the tournament’s history with 10 titles, enters this season eager to continue their dominance. Captain Jacob Ojee echoed the team’s determination: “We are ushering in a new era for KCB Rugby Club. We need to bolster synergies and cohesion to keep the club on the map.”

New signings Floyd Wabwire, Tyson Maina, Laban Kipkosgei, and Davies Nyaundi are expected to add depth to the squad, while experienced players like Scrum Half Samuel Asati and Fly Half Brian Wahinya will lead the charge.
