A 21-year-old man was killed on Tuesday in a fight with his cousin over a land dispute in Turkuito village, Belgut, Kericho County.

Police reported that Nicholas Kipkoech was fatally stabbed while uprooting sugarcane on the contested land. His cousin, who is currently at large, allegedly attacked him and stabbed him in the neck with a sharp object.

The victim was rushed to Kericho County Referral Hospital but succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. The assailant fled the scene, and police are actively working to locate him.

In another incident, the body of a man was discovered at a quarry in Mutonga sublocation, Igoji, Meru County, in a suspected murder. Police found 23-year-old Dennis Bundi lying face down in the Afro Bushero Quarry on Wednesday. He had injuries on his forehead and back, but no murder weapon was recovered at the scene.

A suspect who was last seen with Bundi late at night has been arrested to assist with the investigation, according to police. The body was transferred to Kanyakine Subcounty Hospital mortuary pending a postmortem examination.

In Kegogi, Kisii County, a 17-year-old boy was killed during a fight, with the suspects still at large. The teenager was a Form 4 student at Tambacha Secondary School. Police reported that a father and son used a stick to fatally strike the victim in the head.

He was taken to a nearby hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. According to police, the victim had intervened to defend a 65-year-old man who was being assaulted by the father and son when they turned on him, leading to a larger fight.

Police stated, “The assailants pinned the teenager to the ground and began beating him with the stick.” After receiving information about the incident, a mob descended on the suspects’ homestead and set their house ablaze, then proceeded to their farm, destroying crops.

Tension remains high in the area, with police patrolling the village to prevent further retaliation. The boy’s body has been moved to the mortuary pending a postmortem and other procedures.

When they arrived at the scene, they were astonished to find a cooking pot filled with meat and some vegetables. At the scene, was a human skull and blood-stained clothes as well as the deceased’s gumboots. Police interrogated the suspect on his father’s whereabouts but he noted that he was also unaware as he was still searching for him. The rest of the missing body parts first spotted by the locals was found dumped in a sack and covered with stones inside Nithi River. One of the area residents who claimed that the suspect began digging the tunnel in 2017 stated that the suspect and his victim had an argument about the condition of the tunnel before he went missing. “The two had quarrelled after the man stopped his father from cutting the Napier grass around the tunnel,” Johnson Mutembei a resident told a local publication. The suspect is currently in custody pending arraignment in court to face murder charges. “We have arrested a man who is suspected to have killed his father, cooked part of the body and hidden some in a tunnel,” Muthambi Sub-County Police Commander stated.
