Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested three suspects linked to the theft of electronic items, USD 24,500 (Ksh. 3.16 million) in cash, and other valuable belongings.
The suspects, identified as Lenah Khamatioli (28), Ian Kavaya (28), and Peninah Mutola (32), were apprehended at their hideout in Kawangware after a weeks-long manhunt. According to the DCI, the stolen items were taken from a South Sudanese national’s home in Westlands on September 24, with the matter reported to the DCI Kilimani offices.
“The house owner arrived at her home located along Rahpta Road to find her house girl missing, along with her USD 24,500, an iPhone 15, a Samsung Z Flip, and several pieces of jewellery,” the DCI stated on Monday.
Additionally, the DCI reported that the trio was found in possession of a Boxer motorcycle, a 55-inch Vitron TV, a Hanmac microwave, an HP laptop, a NNix cooker oven, a 6kg Pro gas cylinder, a five-seater sofa, a mattress, two watches, and three brand-new Samsung A50 phones. They also seized an agreement to purchase a parcel of land in Kapkangani, Nandi County, valued at Ksh. 423,000.
The suspects will remain in police custody as they await arraignment.
