A tragic accident occurred on Tuesday night along the Narok-Maimahiu road in Narok County, where a one-year-old child lost their life and 14 passengers were hospitalized with serious injuries after a truck collided with a matatu in the Pinyinyi area.

The incident took place at around 11:30 p.m. as the matatu, carrying 15 passengers, was traveling toward Mai Mahiu. According to police reports, as the matatu was ascending a hill, a truck rammed into it from behind.

“The matatu veered off to the left side of the road, facing the direction of Mai Mahiu, and rolled several times,” police from the Ntulele traffic base reported.

Tragically, the one-year-old child was fatally injured, while the other 14 passengers were rushed to Narok County Referral Hospital, where they were admitted in serious condition. The child’s body was taken to the hospital’s mortuary, and both the matatu and the truck were towed to the Ntulele traffic base.
