A 26-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly defiling a 3-year-old in Busia County.

Police in Bumala said the incident happened in Nawitsula area located in Butula.

Area Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Hellen Rotich said that the suspect is a Ugandan national.

The authorities added that the suspect was working as a farmhand in one of the homes in the area.

The incident comes as locals in the county have raised concern over the spate in cases of defilement.

According to locals, most of the cases go unsolved as the suspects flee to neighboring Uganda.l

The suspect will be presented before the court in Busia on Tuesday.
