With five fixtures played by all the 36 teams in the Champions League so far, the table is beginning to take shape.

Liverpool claimed a 2-0 win over Real Madrid on Wednesday night to go top with 15 points and a goal difference of +11.

The LaLiga giants who are the current holders are down in 24th place.

Madrid’s rivals Barcelona thrashed Brest 3-0 and are up to third place behind Inter Milan.

Arsenal boosted their chances of automatic qualification after they hammered Sporting 5-1 and Mikel Arteta’s men are sitting in 7th position.

Paris Saint-Germain’s 1-0 defeat at Bayern Munich means they are 25th and in danger of elimination.

After each club has played eight matches, the top eight move into the last 16 and those ranked between ninth and 24th go to the play-offs trying to join them.
