Chelsea boss, Enzo Maresca has insisted that his team is not ready for the Premier League title race this season.
Maresca spoke after Chelsea defeated Brentford 2-1 in the Premier League on Sunday night.
Two goals from Marc Cucurella and Nicolas Jackson gave Chelsea the win over Brentford at Stamford Bridge.
Prior to the Blues’ win over Brentford, the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City dropped points after failing to win their matches.
Premier League leaders Liverpool played 2-2 with Fulham, Arsenal drew 0-0 with Everton, while Man City lost 2-1 against Manchester United.
These results gave Chelsea a boost in their Premier League title race as they are now just two points behind Liverpool, who have a game in hand.
Chelsea are also four points ahead of third place Arsenal and seven points ahead of fifth place Man City.
But Maresca is adamant that Chelsea is still not ready to compete for the Premier League title this term.
“For me, we are NOT ready,” Maresca was quoted by Fabrizio Romano as saying after the game at his post-match interview.
“You can talk about the title and the fans can dream about the title… absolutely. If you ask me, I will tell you what I think. We’re not ready but we are happy the fans can dream”.
