Mwamba RFC will use the Goan Institute in Nairobi as their home ground and training facility starting January next year.

The rugby club announced the partnership via its social media platforms, after sealing an agreement with the institution following a three-year search of a training facility.

This partnership provides a stable base for the club’s operations, training sessions, and match-day activities.

“We are proud to announce a new partnership with the Goan Institute, marking a significant milestone for the club after three years without a permanent home. The agreement ensures access to the Goan Institute’s sports facilities for training programs and matches on designated days and times,” read part of the club’s statement.

Both the men’s and women’s teams will now use the Goan Institute grounds for local league matches. Additionally, the iconic Kabeberi Sevens tournament, a major highlight in Kenya’s rugby calendar, will take place at the new venue between July and September 2025.

Mwamba RFC will oversee and fund pitch rehabilitation and maintenance to meet Kenya Rugby Union standards.“We thank the Goan Institute for their support and look forward to a fruitful relationship that benefits both the club and the local community.”

Mwamba lost its former home, the Nairobi Railway Club, in 2020 to make way for a bus terminus and the Nairobi Expressway. The club had trained there for 42 years before being displaced.

The club assured stakeholders that cricket activities at the institute will continue uninterrupted, and the grounds will host both sports seamlessly.

The agreement also includes provisions for secure parking, changing rooms, catering services, and pavilion access, ensuring a comfortable experience for both athletes and fans.
