Arsenal legend Martin Keown has said Liverpool could slip in the Premier League title race when they play a couple of “tricky” away fixtures.

Although Keown admits that Arne Slot’s men remain “big favourites” to lift the trophy, he believes the Gunners still have a chance.

Liverpool are top of the table and six points ahead of Arsenal. The Reds, however, have a game in hand.

They have also lost only one of 28 fixtures across all competitions.

Keown had previously claimed he couldn’t see Arsenal beating Liverpool to the title this season, but upon closer examination of the latter’s fixtures, he believes there is still hope for Mikel Arteta’s team.

“There’s a lot of fixtures that Liverpool have yet to accomplish to be champions,” he told talkSPORT.

“Yes, at the halfway mark they look like they’re running away with it, but they’ve got to go to some very difficult away games, as Arsenal have found against Brighton. Brighton spent £200 million last summer; that’s not an easy place to go to.

“I think Liverpool have that momentum though. I was a little bit surprised yesterday [against Man Utd], that might have dented their confidence a little bit. They’re certainly big favourites to win it, but there’s still too far to go—19 games to go.

“They’ve got to go to Man City, go to [Aston] Villa, go to what is now a tricky place in Bournemouth, who have beaten Man City, Spurs, and Arsenal.

“They’ve got to play [Nottingham] Forest, the only team that they’ve lost to this season, away from home. They’ve got to go to Fulham and Chelsea; these are difficult away games that Arsenal have already played.

“In the second half of the season, they’ve got a lot of tricky games. They’ll want to have won it by the time Arsenal turn up at the end of the season.”
