Moi University council is set to meet all the staff on Monday as the new acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Kiplagat Kotut commences work.

An internal memo issued by the acting Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Khaemba Ongeti states that the staff will have an opportunity to meet the new acting VC.

Prof. Kotut now takes over from Prof. Isaac Kosgey who has been sent on a compulsory leave of eight months, as the Head of Finance and Legal Affairs have been suspended.

The board chairperson Prof. Noah Midamba has committed to revamping the institution which was on the verge of collapsing, saying that in 100 days, he would set up measures to address the issues bedeviling the second-oldest university in the country.

“We held a very fruitful meeting with the Unions and agreed on the need to get the University on its feet by co-creating solutions to address all the pressing issues. Our mission is very clear, and that is to turn around the University to its original glory as a world-class teaching, research and innovation hub,” Kotut said after his appointment on Friday.
