South Coast Pirates Rugby Club winger Devin Abuga remains optimistic that the team can avoid relegation despite a difficult start to their Kenya Cup campaign.

The speedy winger has already crossed the whitewash twice in three matches, showcasing his attacking prowess in a struggling Pirates side.

Pirates currently sit in a precarious 10th place near the foot of the Kenya Cup standings, with eight points from two wins. The pressure is mounting as they fight to secure crucial points in the remaining fixtures.

However, Abuga remains confident that they can turn their season around.

“We are not giving up. The fight is still on, and we believe we have what it takes to remain in the top tier. Every match is a chance to prove ourselves, and we are working harder as a unit,” Abuga told Citizen Digital.

“Our last win against Nakuru RFC at home was a morale booster, and we will carry those lessons into our next match this weekend,” he added.

This weekend, Pirates face a crucial away clash against Blak Blad in Round 8, a fixture that could significantly impact their survival hopes. With Blak Blad known for their high-tempo play at Kenyatta University, the Pirates will need to bring their A-game to secure a much-needed victory.
