Detectives in Imenti Central in Meru County have nabbed an elusive murder suspect accused of killing another man in November last year.

43-year-old Erick Mwenda is said to have assaulted Patrick Njue on November 11, before he later passed on two weeks later on November 25, 2024, while undergoing treatment at Cottolego Mission Hospital.

According to police reports, Mwenda has since been evading arrest before he was smoked out of his hideout in Gaituma Market on Thursday.

“Acting on forensic-led intelligence, the detectives trailed down the suspect to Gaituma Market, swiftly taking him into custody,” the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) stated.

The DCI says the suspect has been detained and is awaiting arraignment at Githogo Law Courts.
